Residents of Slaughter Estate in Kitui County woke up to a grim discovery after the body of a 38-year-old woman was found dumped behind rental houses on Thursday morning.
The woman, believed to have been working in the nearby Kunda Kindu area, was discovered by residents in the early hours, prompting alarm and drawing a crowd at the scene.

Police officers who responded to the incident said the body was found under unclear circumstances and has since been moved to a mortuary pending identification and a postmortem examination.
Authorities said investigations have been launched to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
“We are pursuing all leads and will ensure those responsible are brought to justice,” an officer involved in the probe said.

The incident has heightened concerns among residents, who cited insecurity in the area and called for increased police patrols, especially during the night.
Police have appealed to anyone with information that may assist in the investigation to report to the nearest station.

Cases of bodies being discovered in residential areas have raised concern in recent months, with security agencies urging the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement.
