Kamba Benga star Alex Kasau, popularly known as Katombi, has hit back at critics questioning the explicit content in his latest music video, Weekend, declaring that he is not a role model for their children.
The singer sparked debate after releasing the party-themed video, which features scantily dressed women, provocative dance moves and scenes of partying in a modern nightclub.

Directed by social media influencer and actress Tina Clara alongside Pwax, Weekend follows Katombi and his crew as they dive into nightlife, with alcohol, dancing and women taking centre stage.
In the song, Katombi celebrates Friday, Saturday and Sunday as days to spend freely, portraying a man ready to splash cash on drinks and enjoy the company of several women.

He also takes a swipe at friends unwilling to spend heavily, making it clear that his idea of a perfect weekend involves partying without holding back.
Uploaded to YouTube on October 9, 2026, the music video reportedly attracted more than 387,000 views and 22,000 likes within approximately 48 hours.

While some fans have applauded Katombi for pushing creative boundaries and raising the production standards of Kamba Benga videos, others have questioned whether its provocative scenes are appropriate for general audiences, particularly children.
Responding to the criticism on social media, Katombi appeared unapologetic.

“I’m not your kids’ role model, kila mtu hajipange syana,” he said, telling critics, in essence, that everyone should take responsibility for themselves.
His remarks have added to the debate over artistic freedom, parental responsibility and the kind of entertainment reaching audiences online.

With Weekend generating attention beyond the music itself, the question now is whether Katombi has raised the bar for Kamba Benga entertainment or gone too far with the video’s explicit visuals.
