Interestingly, Kasolo and Irene share a musical connection dating back to her gospel music days. The two were associated with the Kamba gospel song “Nienda None Ngai Ambikie Kyama,” which featured Kasolo before his rise to fame.
Irene has recently resurfaced online sharing her experiences in a marriage to a pastor, which she says was characterised by physical and psychological abuse.
According to her account, her husband allegedly restricted her music career, preventing her from recording songs, attending gospel crusades and interacting freely with other people.
She also reportedly claimed that she and her children were once denied access to food prepared at the church, leaving them hungry for hours.
The alleged experiences, she says, contributed to depression and deteriorating health.
Irene reportedly left the marriage in 2026 and is now selling fruits in Nairobi to provide for her two children.
Her reported transition from gospel music to street-level trading has sparked sympathy, with many calling for support as she navigates a difficult chapter in her life.
The fundraising effort led by Kasolo and fellow influencers has demonstrated the power of social media in mobilising communities to support people facing personal hardships.
For Irene, the reported KSh600,000-plus collection could offer a much-needed financial boost as she considers rebuilding her life and possibly returning to music.
The allegations surrounding her marriage have not been independently verified, and Channel 15 News has not established whether the pastor has responded.
