In a sensational twist of events that has left the Shanzu community in Mombasa County stunned, 66-year-old Canadian national John Gregory Kilguor was found dead under bizarre circumstances in his home. According to police reports, Kilguor suffered an untimely demise while allegedly masturbating after watching pornographic content.

Judith Awuor, his 33-year-old Kenyan girlfriend, who discovered his lifeless body, told authorities that the tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday night. Awuor, who had been in a relationship with Kilguor for over a year, said the two had spent the evening together before she stepped out for a short while. Upon returning, she found Kilguor unresponsive in his bedroom, his phone still playing explicit material.

Awuor claims Kilguor had a history of indulging in such acts but insists she never imagined it could lead to such a devastating outcome. “It is shocking and painful. I thought it was his usual habit, but I didn’t think it could turn fatal,” she told the police in her statement.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Kilguor may have suffered a cardiac arrest during the act. Police found no signs of foul play at the scene, but the body has been taken to a local mortuary for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

The incident has sparked mixed reactions online, with some netizens blaming the growing access to adult content for such incidents, while others have speculated about the dynamics of Kilguor’s relationship with Awuor.

Kilguor, a retired engineer, had been residing in Kenya for the past three years and was reportedly planning to marry Awuor this year. Neighbors described him as a quiet and private individual who rarely interacted with the local community.

Meanwhile, Awuor remains under police protection as investigations continue. The shocking nature of the incident has reignited conversations around pornography, addiction, and its societal impact, with many urging for a more comprehensive approach to tackling such issues.

This peculiar death has not only raised eyebrows but also added to the growing list of unusual fatalities linked to foreign nationals in the coastal region, a popular destination for expatriates and retirees.

As the story develops, the Shanzu tragedy serves as a grim reminder of the unexpected dangers lurking in private indulgences, sparking debates on both health and morality across the country.
