In a harrowing event that has left the community in disbelief, police in Kitale have commenced investigations into a case where a 22-year-old man from Turkana was reportedly gang-raped by five women and subsequently robbed of his belongings.

The young man, who was traveling back to Turkana, had just arrived in Kitale from Eldoret and was seeking directions to find overnight accommodation. According to initial reports, he approached a woman for assistance. Unbeknownst to him, this interaction would lead to a traumatic ordeal.

The woman, along with four accomplices, allegedly lured him to a secluded location. There, the group is accused of sexually assaulting him and stealing his valuables, leaving him in a state of shock and disorientation.

Local boda boda operators discovered the distressed man and immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Medical personnel have confirmed that he is receiving treatment and counseling to address the physical and psychological impacts of the assault.

Law enforcement agencies have expressed deep concern over the incident and are urging the public to provide any information that could lead to the apprehension of the perpetrators. They have also emphasized the importance of community vigilance and the need for individuals to exercise caution when seeking assistance from strangers.

This case challenges societal perceptions of sexual violence, highlighting that men can also be victims of such heinous acts. A study conducted at Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi revealed that out of 385 rape victims treated over a three-year period, 35 were men, with 15 reporting assaults by women.

As the investigation continues, authorities are calling for a thorough and unbiased approach to ensure justice is served. They also stress the importance of providing support systems for all survivors of sexual assault, regardless of gender, to aid in their recovery and reintegration into society.

The community remains in shock, grappling with the reality of such an unprecedented crime. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the pervasive nature of sexual violence and the urgent need for comprehensive measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
