Police in Nakuru are hunting for Pastor Elias Njau of the Jesus Crusaders Ministry (JCM) Church, accused of stabbing his lover, Florence Wanjiku, at their home in Kiamunyi, Rongai Sub-County, on Thursday night.
Njau reportedly fled the scene, leaving Wanjiku critically injured. Neighbors rushed to intervene, rescuing her two children, aged two and ten, who were reportedly also in danger.
Wanjiku, a co-investor with Njau in real estate, is currently hospitalized under tight security as her family fears further harm. Police have recorded her statement, and investigations are ongoing.
The attack came just hours after President William Ruto condemned the rising cases of gender-based violence (GBV) and femicide in the country.
Nakuru County Chief Officer for Gender, Gladys Kamuren, called for calm and patience as authorities pursue the suspect. She emphasized the need for peaceful conflict resolution, saying, “Now we have a woman fighting for her life and a fugitive on the run.”
In a statement, senior officials from the Jesus Crusaders Ministry distanced the church from the incident, reaffirming their commitment to family values. They clarified that the actions of individual members do not reflect the church’s mission and called for justice to prevail.
The incident has sparked outrage on social media, trending on platforms like Facebook and X, with users demanding justice for Wanjiku.
