The County Government of Kitui has called upon residents and stakeholders to take part in a public participation forum on the Draft Annual Budget Estimates for the 2025/2026 Financial Year.
In a public notice issued by the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning, and Revenue Management, the county outlined its commitment to transparency and citizen engagement in accordance with Section 125(2) of the Public Finance Management (PFM) Act, 2012.
The forum is scheduled to take place today, Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) grounds in Kitui Town, beginning at 10:00 AM. Members of the public, civil society organizations, state agencies, and private sector representatives are invited to share their views on the proposed budget.
According to the notice, the main objective of the forum is to collect feedback from the public on the planned revenue allocation and expenditure priorities for the coming fiscal year. The draft budget is currently available for review on the official county government website: www.kitui.go.ke.
In a move aimed at increasing access and transparency, the county has also made arrangements to livestream the proceedings on its official Facebook page and YouTube channel.
The forum comes at a time when counties across the country are under increasing pressure to enhance public participation and ensure that budget-making processes are inclusive and responsive to community needs.
Stakeholders have welcomed the invitation and emphasized the importance of ensuring that citizen priorities are meaningfully reflected in the final budget document.
