Daadab MP Hon. Farah Maalim has urged for increased security measures around President Dr. William Ruto as the National Assembly begins the impeachment proceedings against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Expressing concern over potential threats to the President’s safety, Maalim emphasized the importance of heightened vigilance, given the seriousness of the ongoing process.
“There are individuals who may have the capacity to harm the President. Ensuring his safety is paramount until this motion is concluded,” Maalim warned, stressing that any reckless act targeting the head of state could have severe repercussions for the nation.

The MP also underscored the need to protect the 291 Members of Parliament who have backed the impeachment motion. “We must safeguard the safety of all MPs, but most importantly, we must protect the system itself. The Inspector General must ensure full security for the President, as any reckless incident could alter the course of history. God forbid anything happens to our President,” he added.
Maalim also raised concerns about potential malicious plots, insisting that the President should remain under heightened protection until the conclusion of the impeachment process. “If, God forbid, something were to happen, the consequences could be dire.”

Supporting Maalim’s position, Majority Leader Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah (Kikuyu) acknowledged that while Parliament cannot directly advise the Inspector General of Police or the Director of National Intelligence Service (NIS) on the President’s security, it is crucial to prioritize the safety of all MPs as the impeachment process unfolds.
