Kitui South MP Rachel Nyamai Kaki has boldly declared Kitui South a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) zone, vowing to ride on President William Ruto’s party ticket in 2027 as she seeks her fourth consecutive term in Parliament.
Speaking during a vibrant women and youth empowerment forum held in Mutomo on Wednesday, the outspoken legislator—currently the only elected Jubilee MP from Kitui at the National Assembly—announced her full political alignment with the Kenya Kwanza government. Kaki left no room for speculation as she declared war on Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Party, promising to paint the region yellow come the next general election.

“Mimi siogopi kusema mbele ya watu wangu—Kitui South ni UDA zone! Tumechoka na siasa za upinzani ambazo hazileti maendeleo. Kama ni maendeleo mnataka, basi ni kupitia serikali ya Ruto,” she told an electrified crowd.

She said she had made up her mind to fully back President William Ruto’s re-election bid and promised to spearhead aggressive campaigns for the UDA party across the constituency.
“Let’s be real: opposition politics has only left our people behind. Supporting Kenya Kwanza is not about party loyalty; it’s about the roads, jobs, water, and real development my people deserve.”

Kaki’s latest move is expected to ruffle feathers within the Wiper Party, which has traditionally enjoyed widespread support in Kitui County. Her declaration may also place her on a collision course with Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, whose presidential ambitions heavily rely on his Eastern stronghold.

This political realignment signals a major shift in the Ukambani political terrain and could open a new chapter in the battle for Kitui South—one that pits grassroots development against party loyalty.
With her eyes firmly set on 2027 and a clear message to her opponents, Rachel Kaki is betting big on the UDA wave—and she’s not looking back.
