The Kitui County Assembly has unanimously approved a supplementary budget totaling Ksh 14,840,016,748 to support both development and recurrent expenditures for the 2024/2025 financial year. This decision followed the presentation of a report by the County Budget and Appropriations Committee, with the motion to adopt moved by Wiper nominated MCA Hon. Jacqueline Kalenga , the Committee’s Vice Chairperson, and seconded by Hon. Bonface Mukwate (Kanyangi).

In her remarks, Hon. Kalenga emphasized that the budget was crafted with the needs of Kitui residents in mind, meeting the required statutory minimum of 30% for development allocation as mandated by Section 107(2)(b) of the Public Finance Management Act, 2012.
Members of the Assembly commended the County Budget and Appropriations Committee for producing a balanced and forward-looking budget and urged the County Executive to ensure full and timely implementation.

Presiding over the session, Speaker Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya applauded the members for their dedication to the budget process, noting their commitment to representing the best interests of the people of Kitui. He thanked them for their active participation in passing the supplementary budget, which aims to address critical needs across the county.
