A Nigerian relationship counsellor has left many of her followers stunned after announcing that her highly anticipated wedding has been called off, bringing an abrupt end to her engagement.
Counsellor Chidima Praise shared the heartbreaking update in a public statement on her Facebook page, revealing that the wedding she had earlier announced would no longer take place.
Although she did not disclose the circumstances surrounding the cancellation, Chidima described the development as a painful chapter that had affected not only her but also both families who had been preparing for the union.

In her statement, she thanked family members, friends and well-wishers who had supported her through prayers and encouragement, while requesting privacy as she focuses on healing and trusting God with her future.
The announcement quickly spread across social media, drawing an outpouring of support from followers, many of whom encouraged her to remain strong and reminded her that it is better for a marriage to be called off before the wedding than after.
In the days that followed, Chidima returned to Facebook with emotional tributes to her parents, crediting them for standing by her throughout what she described as one of the most difficult seasons of her life.
In a heartfelt post dedicated to her father, she said his support was not always expressed through frequent phone calls but through unwavering prayers, fasting and wise counsel.

She described him as a quiet pillar of strength who remained by her side even when life became uncertain, writing that he never abandoned her after she made mistakes but instead chose “love over shame, wisdom over condemnation and hope over despair.”
She went on to praise fathers who continue to love, protect and believe in their children through life’s most difficult moments, saying their sacrifices are often unseen but deeply felt.
Chidima also penned an equally emotional tribute to her mother, describing her as her “safe place” during the painful period.

She said her mother covered her with prayers when she struggled to pray for herself, gave her hope when she felt hopeless and stood firmly by her side despite the challenges she faced.
Calling her mother her pastor, role model, personal counsellor and greatest source of strength, Chidima thanked her for every prayer, sacrifice and sleepless night spent supporting her through the difficult chapter.
While she has remained silent on what led to the cancellation of her wedding, her messages celebrating the unwavering love and support of her parents have continued to resonate with thousands of followers, many of whom have praised the family’s faith and resilience during the challenging season.
