Canon Jonathan Kabiru has been elected as the new bishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya’s Nairobi Diocese. The election, held today at ACK St. Stephen’s Cathedral on Jogoo Road, saw the Electoral College, composed of 23 delegates, select the third bishop of the Diocese after a Holy Communion service and a subsequent tea break.

Canon Kabiru emerged victorious, surpassing his fellow candidates, Ven Canon Joshua Omungo and Canon Dr. Sammy Wainaina, during the closed session. His election marks a significant milestone in the life of the Nairobi Diocese, and he will assume a key role in leading both the spiritual and administrative affairs of the Diocese.

The announcement of his election was made by the Chairman of the Electoral College, the Diocesan Chancellor, and shared across the Diocese’s social media platforms, generating a wave of joy and support from the congregation.
Ven Canon Geoffrey Okapisi, the Administrative Secretary, thanked the faithful for their prayers throughout the process and called for continued unity and prayer as the Diocese embarks on this new chapter under Bishop-elect Kabiru’s leadership.
