Kamba gospel singer Mama Africa has set social media ablaze after a viral TikTok video emerged in which she shares her side of the story behind her failed marriage to her former husband, Steve.
In the emotionally charged clip, the singer makes a series of personal allegations, claiming that the marriage left her financially drained, emotionally exhausted and isolated from some of the people closest to her.
Among her claims, Mama Africa says she borrowed money to support what she described as her husband’s lifestyle, only to find herself overwhelmed by debt after the relationship ended.
She further alleges that she contributed KSh 60,000—money she says she borrowed—towards pre-wedding preparations but received only KSh 10,000 from the fundraiser.
The gospel artist also claims she quit two jobs to fully commit to married life, a decision she now says came at a heavy personal cost.

In one of the video’s more emotional moments, Mama Africa alleges that she was so mentally distressed during her wedding that she accidentally signed the marriage certificate using the wrong signature.
She also claims that the marriage negatively affected her relationships with friends and colleagues, including fellow Kamba gospel musician Stephen Kasolo.
The viral clip contains additional serious allegations involving family disputes, criminal accusations and religious deliverance sessions. Those claims remain allegations made by Mama Africa in the TikTok video and have not been independently verified.
As the video continues to circulate online, it has sparked widespread discussion among fans, with many expressing sympathy while others have called for both sides of the story to be heard.
At the time of publication, there has been no verified public response from Steve addressing the latest allegations made in the viral clip.
