Visitors to Nairobi National Park can now book a game drive as easily as hailing a cab, thanks to a new feature rolled out by Uber. The ride-hailing company has introduced safari-ready vehicles onto its platform, allowing users to request a game drive through the app.
Channel 15 News has learned that a day trip costs Ksh.25,000, with the car taking up to seven people. Night safaris, on the other hand, cost Ksh.40,000 and accommodate up to five tourists.
Uber said the move is aimed at tapping into Kenya’s tourism sector, which contributes about 10.4 percent of GDP and accounts for 5.5 percent of formal employment. It also seeks to provide new income streams for licensed safari operators, who can register their vehicles on the platform and tap into Uber’s extensive customer base.
Industry observers say the innovation could reshape how urban safari experiences are booked, making wildlife adventures in the city park more accessible to both international visitors and local tourists.
