A tragic road accident at Umoja Petrol Station in Mwingi Central has claimed the life of a middle-aged woman after a Zafanana bus, a lorry, and a boda boda collided in a devastating crash early this morning.

According to eyewitness accounts, the accident occurred when the Zafanana bus attempted to overtake the lorry at high speed. In the process, it rammed into a boda boda that was carrying the deceased. The impact was fatal, crushing the woman on the spot as onlookers watched in horror.

The victim, who has been identified as a teller at a local bank, was on her way to work when the tragedy struck. Her body has since been moved to the Mwingi Level 4 Hospital mortuary as police launch investigations into the incident.

Residents have decried the rising cases of accidents at the notorious spot, calling on authorities to erect speed bumps and enforce stricter traffic regulations.

“We have witnessed too many fatal accidents here. Something needs to be done before more lives are lost,” lamented a boda boda operator at the scene.

Meanwhile, authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution on the road, emphasizing that reckless overtaking remains a leading cause of fatal crashes.

The incident has left the local banking community and residents in mourning as they come to terms with the sudden loss.

More updates to follow as investigations unfold.
