The Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB), in partnership with the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (AMECEA), organized the annual National Prayer Day at the Marian Shrine in Subukia today.

This year’s prayer Mass, led by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Mombasa, drew a large gathering of Christians from various dioceses across Kenya, alongside pilgrims from Uganda.

The Mass, celebrated by Bishop Charles Kasonde of the Diocese of Solwezi in Zambia, was a key event that also launched the 50th anniversary of Small Christian Communities, with the participation of several KCCB bishops.

In his homily, Archbishop Maurice Muhatia Makumba, who also chairs the KCCB, highlighted the importance of unity within the Church, stressing that unity invites God’s blessings. He further called on Kenya’s political leaders to foster national cohesion rather than divide the country with divisive policies.
