Wiper leader Stephen Kalonzo has called on Kenya Kwanza government to keenly listen to striking healthcare workers grievances and pursue a meaningful dialogue to end the ongoing crisis instead of issuing threats .
Speaking during a church service a at The ACK St Stephens, Church, Jogoo Rd in Nairobi County today, Kalonzo said in the light of national public health emergency , the government should consider his stand and heeds into the healthcare workers demands.
The Wiper leader further took a jab at the Public Service Cs Moses Kuria following his disclosure to bring a proposal that will ensure all employees under the national government are hired on contracts.
According to Musyoka such plans would deny employees like the striking health workers an opportunity to enjoy job tenure benefits associated with such job opportunities.
The striking doctors, who have now been on strike for 41 days, are demanding, among other issues, the conversion of their employment to permanent and pensionable terms. Talks to resolve their strike has seen a deal reached on 18 of the 19 issues they raised except the posting on interns on a Sh206,000 monthly pay.
The Wiper leader was attending the church service which was in honour of the Labour Prayer Movement. The Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU-K) Secretary General Francis Atwoli was also present as was Makadara MP Hon. George Aladwa.
