Businesswoman Rhoda Grootveld has instituted defamation proceedings against social media personality Faith Ndolo, popularly known as “Shee Ya Minaa Kyawango,” following what she describes as a sustained campaign of false, malicious and defamatory publications targeting her and her family.
According to court documents filed at the Milimani Commercial Magistrate’s Court in Nairobi, the suit, MCCC/E5412/2026, was mentioned before Hon. C.K. Lelei on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
The court directed that the defendant be formally served with the application and ordered her to file a response within 14 days. The matter has been scheduled for an inter partes hearing on August 20, 2026.
In a statement issued after filing the case, Grootveld said she had sought legal redress following repeated online publications that she believes damaged her reputation and that of her family.
“Following a sustained campaign of false, malicious and defamatory publications against me and my family, I have today commenced defamation proceedings against Faith Ndolo alias ‘Shee Ya Minaa Kyawango’ before the Milimani Commercial Court,” she said.
Grootveld added that she has confidence in the judicial process and would not engage in public exchanges over issues that are now before the court.
“I have full confidence in the judicial process and will allow the matter to be determined by the Court. I will therefore refrain from engaging in public exchanges on the issues that are now before the Court,” she stated.
She also thanked those who have offered her support, encouragement and prayers as the matter proceeds through the courts.
The case will now await the defendant’s response ahead of the August 20 hearing.
