Fresh details have emerged surrounding the tragic death of Kirinyaga University student Sospeter Onyango Osungo, popularly known as “Billionaire Akoko,” who was killed on Sunday night in Kibera, Nairobi.
The 23-year-old, originally from Gem, Siaya County, had gained attention for his flashy lifestyle, which many believed was funded by his involvement in cryptocurrency ventures. His extravagant spending and wealth often made him the center of attention, with reports of him treating revelers to drinks and flaunting his success.
According to eyewitnesses, the confrontation that led to his death began outside a local bar, where Akoko allegedly angered some patrons with his actions and remarks. He was said to have been offering drinks to revelers when the situation escalated into a violent mob attack. Akoko was stabbed seven times in the stomach and back, and succumbed to his injuries.
Two of his friends, a man and a woman, who were with him during the incident, were also seriously injured and are currently hospitalized.
Police have launched investigations into the incident, and a manhunt is underway for those responsible for the attack. However, there have been troubling reports that police officers were on patrol in the area during the assault but did not intervene. Authorities have yet to confirm these allegations.
