A tense political atmosphere in Mt. Kenya took a darker turn on April 8 after the Democracy for Citizens (DCP) Party’s Political Affairs Director, Stanley Kimure, was allegedly abducted.

Reports indicate that unknown assailants seized Kimure near Rironi while he was traveling with Mark Muriithi Mwenje in a Subaru Forester.

The abduction comes on the heels of a heated confrontation between President William Ruto and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua during the burial of the late MP David Kiaharo in Ol Kalou.

The burial proceedings became a flashpoint as Gachagua addressed discussions surrounding his impeachment, while President Ruto countered claims about regional leadership influence.

Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, representing Kimure, confirmed the incident, though no formal statements have yet been issued by Gachagua or the DCP Party. The case has drawn widespread condemnation from political analysts and local leaders, who warn that such incidents risk further destabilizing the Mt. Kenya political landscape.

Observers note that the episode highlights growing tensions in the region ahead of key political cycles, with citizens and party leaders calling for swift action and transparent investigations.
