The Kitui County Supplementary Appropriation Bill, 2024, gained significant momentum today as it successfully passed its first reading in the County Assembly. The Bill is designed to authorize the withdrawal of funds from the County Revenue Fund for the financial year ending June 30, 2025, and to allocate these funds to critical public services and projects.
In a move to expedite the process, the Assembly adopted a motion to shorten the Bill’s publication period from seven days to six, in line with Standing Order No. 116. This decision reflects the urgency to address pressing financial matters within the county.
The motion was proposed by Hon. Jacquelyne Cate Kalenga, Vice Chairperson of the Budget and Appropriations Committee, and seconded by Hon. Godfrey Muthengi Ndagara, MCA for Tharaka and Deputy Majority Party Whip.
The accelerated progress of the Bill underscores the Assembly’s commitment to delivering timely financial interventions for the county’s development and service delivery.
