Kitui South parliamentary aspirant and Kitui County Chief Officer for Agriculture Gladys Mami Kivoto has pledged to support the education of children left behind by the late Catholic catechist Stephen Kiluma Kilungya.
Kivoto made the commitment on Friday during the burial ceremony of the late catechist at Nguuni Village in Ithumula, Ikanga/Kyatune Ward, where family, friends, church faithful and local leaders gathered to pay their final respects.

The late Stephen Kiluma, who served at St. Augustine Nguuni Catholic Church, was eulogised as a devoted servant of God whose dedication to the church and community earned him admiration and respect across the area.
Speaking during the emotional ceremony, Kivoto described the late catechist as a man who lived a life of humility, faith and service to others, saying his contribution to the spiritual growth of the community would not be forgotten.
She conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and assured them of her support during the difficult period of mourning.
In a move that touched many mourners, the Kitui South hopeful announced financial support towards the education of the late catechist’s children who are still in school, saying education remains key to securing the future of young people in the community.

Kivoto said leaders have a responsibility to stand with families facing hardship and ensure children do not lose opportunities because of tragic circumstances.
The burial ceremony attracted several local leaders and residents from across Ikanga/Kyatune Ward, highlighting the influence and respect the late Stephen Kiluma commanded within the church and the wider community.

Among those who accompanied Kivoto were Ikanga/Kyatune Ward MCA Hon. Cyrus Musyoka Sonko and Ministry of Health Director Francis Musyoka.
Leaders present praised the late catechist for his commitment to the church and called on residents to embrace unity, compassion and community support.

Stephen Kiluma Kilungya will be remembered as a faithful church servant whose life was marked by dedication, humility and unwavering commitment to God and the people.
