Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe yesterday presided over the opening of a week-long leadership and integrity workshop in Mutomo, Kitui South, facilitated by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

In his opening remarks, Governor Malombe highlighted the significance of the training in promoting ethical practices among county staff. He expressed optimism that the workshop would foster a culture of accountability and integrity, rejecting corruption in all its forms.

“This initiative is crucial in guiding public officers to operate strictly within the confines of the law while ensuring efficient and prudent resource management to deliver quality services to citizens,” the Governor remarked.

EACC Lower Eastern Regional Manager Japheth Baithalu emphasized the importance of collaboration in combating corruption and unethical conduct. He reiterated that the fight against corruption requires sustained efforts and collective responsibility.

The workshop, which runs throughout this week, is part of EACC’s nationwide initiative to enhance the capacity of public officers to adhere to Chapter Six of the Constitution, which outlines principles of leadership and integrity.
The event is attended by Deputy Governor Augustine Kanani, members of the County Executive Committee, and other senior county officials.
