The Kitui County Assembly has officially set in motion the process of selecting key county officials following a special plenary sitting today. Speaker Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya committed the names of members of a selection panel tasked with shortlisting candidates for three critical positions: County Secretary, County Attorney, and Secretary to the County Public Service Board (CPSB).

The panel’s formation aligns with Section 7(1) of the Public Appointments Act, 2017, alongside Standing Order No. 184(4). Their recommendations will play a crucial role in shaping the county’s administrative leadership.
The appointed selection panel members are:
✅ Dr. Nzomo Mwita – Kitui East
✅ Eng. Stephen Nguli – Mwingi West
✅ CPA Jacinta Mwendwa – Kitui West
✅ Joseph Munyasya – Mwingi North
✅ Amb. Dr. Koki Muli – Kitui Central
The Committee on Appointments is expected to vet the proposed panel members before they officially take up their roles. Once approved, the panel will begin reviewing applications and identifying suitable candidates for the three key county offices.
A Key Moment for Kitui Governance
The appointment of the County Secretary, County Attorney, and Secretary to the CPSB is crucial, as these officials will directly influence governance, legal affairs, and human resource management in the county. The vetting process is expected to be thorough, with Assembly members emphasizing competence, integrity, and experience.

With the selection process now in motion, Kitui residents will be keenly watching to see whether the appointments will strengthen service delivery and county administration. The Committee on Appointments is expected to table its final report before the Assembly for deliberation.
