The Kitui County Assembly has approved a significant increase in funding for the Community Level Infrastructure Development Programme (CLIDP) within the 2025/2026 Annual Development Plan (ADP). During a plenary session today, the Assembly raised the allocation from Ksh 750 million to Ksh 900 million—an additional Ksh 150 million aimed at boosting grassroots development projects.

The decision, proposed by the Committee on Finance and Economic Planning, ensures that each ward will now receive Ksh 22.5 million for local infrastructure projects, up from previous allocations. The motion was presented by the committee’s chairperson, Hon. Munyoki Mwinzi of Kyuso Ward.
“Hon. Speaker, the ADP projects a total resource envelope of Ksh 12.81 billion, with Ksh 825 million coming from County Own Source Revenue,” Hon. Mwinzi stated, outlining the financial framework for the upcoming fiscal year.

The increase in CLIDP funding was met with applause from assembly members, who recognized the programme’s success in delivering impactful projects to underserved communities. They urged the County Executive to ensure the full implementation of the committee’s recommendations to maximize the benefit to residents.

The CLIDP, a key component of the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP 2023/2027), is a cornerstone of Kitui County’s development agenda, providing resources directly to wards for essential infrastructure projects. With this approval, the county is set to embark on the budget-making process for the 2025/2026 financial year.

The motion to approve the ADP was moved by Hon. Munyoki Mwinzi and seconded by Hon. Waziri Bakari (Nominated), with the session chaired by Hon. Paul Maluki (Kithumula/Kwa Mutonga).
