A man who was once voted as the most handsome man in Italy has stepped down as a model to concentrate on his priesthood vocation.
The 21-year old Edoardo Santini , who was voted as Italy’s most handsome man in 2019 when he was only 17 , in a pageant organized by ABE , a fashion group, took to his social media site on December 2, to announce his decision behind the move.
“At 21 years of age I find myself on the path towards becoming a priest, God willing. I’ve decided to give up modelling work, acting and dance, but I won’t abandon all my passions, I’ll just live them differently, offering them up to God,” He wrote on his Instagram handle.
The modelling star now says he has joined joined a Seminary near Florence, near his hometown.
Eduardo said , last year he went to stay with two priests terming it the best experience of his life.
“At the end of the year it was natural for me to ask the bishop to enter the preparatory course, the year that precedes life in the seminary. And here I am, studying theology and serving two parishes in the Florentine diocese.”
Edoardo now says despite the backlash he has received from some of his family and friends he will continue to follow his new path.
He said: “Of course I have people that speak behind my back. There are those who have no problem telling me that I’m a disappointment, even in my family. But there are also those who support me, believers and non-believers.”
