Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has called on his executive team to prioritize productivity and align their strategies with President William Ruto’s directive to review Kenya’s performance management framework by December 2024.

Speaking during a sensitization forum held at his office boardroom on Thursday, the Governor addressed County Executive Committee Members, Chief Officers, County Advisors, and Senior Officers. He emphasized the need to adopt a results-driven approach that evaluates outputs and outcomes, as outlined in the presidential directives issued during the 3rd National Wage Bill Conference at Bomas of Kenya in April 2024.

Governor Malombe has called on Kitui County Executive team to priotize and align with President Ruto’s directive of reviewing Kenyan’s performance managementframework by December 2024.

“The review marks a shift from merely measuring activities and inputs to assessing tangible results. This is a call for accountability, innovation, and excellence in governance,” Dr. Malombe stated.

He further highlighted that Kitui County has already developed a draft of the County Productivity Metrics, a foundational framework to ensure county initiatives are strategic, measurable, and impactful. The Governor urged his team to refine their strategies, enhance capacities, and position Kitui as a leader in governance and service delivery.

Governor Malombe reiterated his administration’s commitment to aligning with national goals while fostering a culture of performance excellence that directly benefits Kitui residents. “As public servants, we must embrace these productivity metrics to ensure our efforts translate into meaningful outcomes for our people,” he added.

The President’s directive on performance management seeks to integrate productivity measurement systems with clear rewards and sanctions, setting a new standard for accountability and efficiency in governance across Kenya. Governor Malombe’s call to action signals Kitui’s readiness to meet these national benchmarks and lead by example.
