Kitui governor Dr Julius Makau Malombe was the Chief guest last night at Catholic Diocese of Kitui Family dinner as the church Raised Ksh 5.6 million towards suppprt of vital projects .
One of the main church project which will benefit from this fundraiser is St Judes Rehabilitation Centre, which was established in 2001 under the mandate of the Catholic Diocese of Kitui, to assist the growing number of children who, due to challenging financial and social circumstances, are forced to live on the streets of Kitui and surrounding counties.
The Rehabilitation Centre operates with the objectives of reuniting the street children with their families, reintegrating them into home and school life, providing them with medical care, and, where necessary, offering access to and funding for primary and secondary education. Additionally, the Centre provides intensive counseling in a supportive and safe environment, helping the children to cope effectively with changes in their lives and ultimately facilitating their development and long-term independence through higher education, vocational training, and job placements.
To date, St. John Eudes Centre has successfully rehabilitated over 1,000 street children, providing them with the emotional, psychological, and financial support necessary for successful reintegration into community life, and ultimately offering them invaluable opportunities to improve their lives.
In his remarks, Bishop Mwongela noted that through effective collaboration among the clergy, religious, partners and faithful, the Diocese has achieved much in transforming lives. He also expressed gratitude to everyone for their unity and support of church projects, particularly the Dinner’s thematic areas.
He urged all to remain committed to self-reliance and to embrace the prudent use of resources, stating that if resources are well utilized, the Diocese will accomplish even more.
