The representative of Holy Father in the country and South Sudan His Excellency Hurbetus van Megen has encouraged educators to challenge their students with thought-provoking questions to foster critical thinking. Additionally, the Nuncio has highlighted the significant benefits of extracurricular activities noting that such activities help students discover their talents, develop leadership skills, and become well-rounded individuals.

Speaking at St John’s Kwa-Mulungu , in Kitui West Constituency during Catholic Diocese of Kitui , Education Day where he was the Chief Guest , His Excellency Hurbetus van Megen Catholic said schools play a crucial role in shaping the leaders of tomorrow not only leaders who are good but also compassionate.” Let us celebrate the invaluable contributions of our Catholic schools.” He said

The main purpose of this year’s Catholic Diocese of Kitui Education Day was to celebrate the achievement of the church’s endeavor in Holistic education, and during this various schools were awarded in different categories, which are academics, faith formation and extra-curricular activities.

Adressing the students at the same event, Kitui Catholic Bishop Mwongela branded the students as heroes and heroines of the nation country and called on them to start preparing for a great future. “With education, you will go far,” he said.

Also present at the event was Mr. Khalif Hassan, The County Director of Education , praised the strong discipline and etiquette upheld in Catholic schools, highlighting them as key pillars of academic performance in the county. He encouraged these schools to maintain their high standards of discipline.

Additionally, Mr. Hassan urged teachers, students, and support staff to prioritize dialogue and open communication to prevent disruptions and maintain a peaceful school environment.
