Two British soldiers have been arrested after being caught engaging in a sexual act inside the cockpit of a £8.5 million Apache combat helicopter. The incident, which has sparked controversy and prompted tighter security measures, occurred when ground crew arrived to place a rain cover over the high-tech gunship.
According to sources, the crew noticed unusual activity as the helicopter’s rotor blades swayed erratically and strange noises emanated from the cockpit. Upon inspection, they found a male and female soldier—both from a unit unrelated to the air corps—engaged in sexual activity.
The pair were immediately ordered to leave the cockpit and dress before being taken into custody.
A senior air corps official confirmed the incident, calling it “highly unprofessional and unacceptable.” It has since prompted the corps to introduce stricter protocols to ensure all helicopters are secured against unauthorized access.
“This is not only a breach of discipline but also a serious security lapse. Apache helicopters are not just expensive assets; they represent critical components of national defense,” the official added.
The soldiers, whose identities remain undisclosed, had reportedly sneaked into the helicopter unnoticed, raising questions about access control at the base. The Ministry of Defence is expected to launch a full investigation into the incident.
The Apache, known for its advanced weaponry and combat capabilities, is among the most sophisticated helicopters in the British military arsenal. The incident has drawn widespread attention, with many questioning how such a blatant disregard for protocol could occur.
Further disciplinary action against the soldiers is anticipated as investigations continue.
