Fresh concerns have emerged within the Kamba community following President William Ruto’s latest government reshuffle and appointments — a move that saw Luo Nyanza secure several influential positions while Ukambani was once again left out.

Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli, National Liberal Party (NLP) Leader and patron of the Anzauni clan, has now voiced the community’s growing frustration. Speaking on behalf of over 400,000 Anzauni clan members spread across Kenya, Dr. Muli said the time had come for the Kamba community to demand fair representation in national government.

“As the fifth largest community in Kenya, the Kamba people deserve a place at the decision-making table. Our contribution to national development is significant, yet we remain underrepresented,” Dr. Muli noted.

The reshuffle saw prominent appointments from Luo Nyanza, including in Trade, Medical Services, Public Investments, and Children Welfare, raising questions about Ukambani’s diminishing influence in national affairs.

Dr. Muli, a key Kamba leader, reiterated his long-held stance that the community must reconsider its continued allegiance to opposition politics, which he believes has only isolated the region and denied it a share of government resources and influence.

“For years, I have been at the forefront urging the Kamba nation to rethink our political strategy. Remaining in opposition while other regions engage the government has only left us marginalized. It’s time we embrace the broad-based government in the spirit of One Kenya, united for development,” he emphasized.
He added that his recent efforts — including leading an Anzauni clan delegation to petition President Ruto — were meant to open the doors for Ukambani’s inclusion in government, but the latest appointments did not meet the community’s expectations.

“We respect the President’s appointments, but we hope future decisions will ensure regional balance. Every community should feel represented in government — that is how we build a united country,” Dr. Muli stated.

With Nyanza celebrating increased national influence, Ukambani is now at a political crossroads, with more voices calling for unity and a shift from the opposition path that has left the community sidelined.
“Development follows power. It’s time we position ourselves to benefit our people and secure a better future for our region,” Dr. Muli concluded.
