A family in Githurai 44, Kiangichiri area, is mourning the tragic loss of a six-month-old baby following a domestic altercation between her mother and stepfather.

According to reports, the incident occurred last Thursday when the man allegedly returned home and demanded money from the child’s mother. When she was unable to provide the cash, an argument is said to have ensued.

In the course of the dispute, the man reportedly grabbed the infant from the mother and took her into the bedroom. About 20 minutes later, the mother is said to have found the baby lying unresponsive on the bed.

A postmortem examination later revealed that the infant, identified as Baby Amilia, had sustained multiple injuries, including bruises on the forehead, left cheek extending to the jaw, and the left ear.

The suspect, who is reported to be an employee of Nairobi City County, fled after the incident and remains at large.
The baby is set to be laid to rest on Friday at Lang’ata Cemetery as investigations into the incident continue.
