The fully clothed infant was discovered crying by pupils at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, according to information provided by local administrators.
The pupils immediately alerted the teacher on duty, who informed the schoolโs headteacher. The headteacher subsequently contacted Assistant Chief Mulatya Nganda, who coordinated efforts to retrieve the baby safely from the pit latrine.

The efforts reportedly led to the identification of a 22-year-old woman, identified as Eunice Nungu Nguu, who allegedly admitted to abandoning the infant, according to the information provided by local administrators.
The circumstances that led to the baby being left in the pit latrine remain unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
The suspect was taken to Zombe Police Station for interrogation and further police action as investigators seek to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
