A middle-aged woman is receiving treatment at Amref Kibwezi Hospital after she narrowly escaped death following a violent knife attack by her husband in Makueni County.

The shocking incident occurred at a rented house in the Kwa‑Kyai Shopping Centre, where the husband allegedly attacked his wife using a kitchen knife during a domestic altercation.

According to Frendrick Kyalo, neighbours responded quickly after hearing distress calls from the house and managed to rescue the injured woman before rushing her to hospital for treatment.

“The neighbours intervened and helped the woman escape. She was taken to hospital while the man returned to the house,” the administrator said.

Moments later, the suspect reportedly went back into the house where he died by suicide.
Police officers visited the scene and launched investigations into the tragic incident as the injured woman continues to receive medical care.

Local administrators have since urged couples facing marital challenges to seek counselling and guidance from elders, religious leaders, or professional counsellors instead of resorting to violence.

Authorities say community members should also report domestic disputes early to prevent such tragic outcomes.
