Wiper Patriotic Front has officially presented Munyoki Mwangangi, popularly known as Bookshop, with its nomination certificate for the Migwani Ward MCA by-election scheduled for November 17, 2026, after nine fellow aspirants pledged to support his candidature.
The party presented the certificate on Tuesday, October 13, at its headquarters, in a ceremony led by National Chairman Jamleck Kamau and National Elections Board Chairperson Agatha Solitei.

Mwangangi emerged as the partyโs designated candidate following an internal nomination exercise involving 10 aspirants, with WPF describing the process as free, fair and transparent.
The nine other aspirants subsequently pledged to rally behind Bookshop, in a development the party said demonstrated unity, political maturity and a commitment to strengthening its grassroots structures ahead of the polls.
The nomination marks a key step in WPFโs preparations for the Migwani Ward contest, with the party now looking towards the next stages of the electoral process as the November 17 polling date approaches.
Wiper Leaders Attend Bookshopโs Nomination
Several senior party officials and elected leaders attended the certificate presentation, underscoring the partyโs involvement in the nomination process.
Those present included National Organising Secretary Robert Mbui, Deputy National Chairperson Ann Kanyi, Deputy National Organising Secretary Muriuki Ndwiga, Kitui Woman Representative Irene Kasalu and Kitui Central MP Makali Mulu.

The party commended all 10 aspirants for taking part in the exercise, saying their participation reflected a commitment to internal democracy and the strengthening of WPFโs political organisation at the grassroots.
The endorsement by the nine unsuccessful aspirants also sets the stage for the party to coordinate its efforts behind its nominee as the ward heads towards the by-election.
Bookshopโs Next Step Ahead Of November Poll
Mwangangi is expected to submit his nomination papers to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Returning Officer on October 21, 2026.
The submission will be an important step in the formal electoral process ahead of the November 17 by-election.
With the WPF ticket now awarded, attention turns to the remaining electoral preparations and the candidates who will ultimately contest the Migwani Ward seat.
The by-election will give eligible voters in Migwani Ward an opportunity to choose their representative in the Kitui County Assembly.
