Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has launched a blistering political offensive against Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse, accusing him of corruption, hypocrisy, and political mercenary work in what has quickly become one of the most explosive confrontations within Ukambani leadership.
In a fiery address on Thursday, Wavinya tore into Mutuse with an unfiltered barrage of accusations, declaring that the legislator—whom she described as “a criminal masquerading as a leader”—had no moral standing to lecture anyone on governance.

According to the governor, Mutuse is not just a critic but a key architect of the rot that nearly crippled Machakos County during Alfred Mutua’s tenure, when he served as Chief of Staff.
“Mutuse siphoned county resources and ferried the proceeds to Kibwezi West,” Wavinya charged.
“He left Machakos drowning in stalled projects and broken promises—now he wants to talk about leadership?”
The governor escalated her attack by alleging that Mutuse was deeply entangled in backroom political schemes, claiming he was “paid to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.”
She framed the MP as a man driven solely by the allure of political deals, saying:

“People like Mutuse will do anything for money. They betray their counties, undermine development, and destabilize governments.”
Wavinya compared such leaders to dangerous criminals—only worse—arguing that while armed robbers steal once and flee, corrupt officials like Mutuse allegedly drain counties dry for years under the guise of leadership.
“They don’t steal with guns,” she said. “They steal with pens, offices, and networks… and the damage they cause lasts a lifetime.”
She insisted her administration would not be distracted by what she termed “political scavengers whose hands are still smelling of stolen money.” Instead, she vowed to focus on development, service delivery, and restoring Machakos to a path of growth.
The explosive exchange comes amid shifting political alliances and rising tensions across Ukambani, where leaders are positioning themselves ahead of 2027. Mutuse has yet to issue a full response, but insiders say his camp is preparing a rebuttal as the political firestorm continues to build.
