Kenya’s media fraternity is mourning the death of veteran broadcaster Charles Omuga Kabisae, a respected voice on the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) airwaves.

Kabisae’s career began at KBC Kisumu Station, where he was known for his Dholuo broadcasts, before he later moved to Nairobi to join the KBC Kiswahili Service. His deep, authoritative voice and mastery of languages made him a beloved figure among radio audiences across the country.

Beyond the studio, Kabisae left personal impressions on many who crossed his path. One mourner fondly recalled childhood encounters with the broadcaster in Kisumu in the early school years.

Kabisae’s family also holds a legacy in Kisumu public life — his brother, Chief Abisae, later served as the area chief.

Tributes have poured in from colleagues, listeners, and community members who remember Kabisae as a consummate professional and a man of warmth and humour.

May his soul rest in peace.
