    UDA Senator Tabitha Mutinda Proposes Scrapping of CDF To Pay Nation’s Outstanding Debts

    Senate’s United Democratic Alliance Mp Hon Tabitha Mutinda wants the parliament to abolish the Constituency Development Fund ( CDF) kitty due to it’s misuses.

    According to Hon Tabitha Mutinda Munene all Kenyan’s Mps at National Assembly should propose scrapping of the kitty and re-allocate the funds elsewhere to settle country’s most need in the sprit of setting austerity measures as proposed by the head of State on Sunday during State of Nation adress.

    The senator proposes that following scrapping of Finance Bill 2024 , the funds saved from CDF kitty should be used to service the country’s debts.

    Senator Tabitha Mutinda Munene’s remarks comes barely 12 hours after Salaries and Remuneration Commission gazetted the new reviewed salary for senior state legislators .

    In the new salary review by Salaries and Remuneration Commission, the Speaker of National Assembly and the Senate will see their salaries shoot from Ksh 1.18 million to Ksh 1.2 million.

    The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and his Senate counterpart will see see their salaries rise from Ksh 0.94 million to Ksh 0.96 million.

    Majority and Minority Leaders of the two houses will see their salaries rise from Ksh748,768 to Ksh800,019 while Members of Parliament salaries will shoot from KSh725,602 to Ksh739,600 , as County Assembly Members witness a rise from Ksh144,375 to Ksh166,588
