A heartbreaking tragedy has rocked Kyangondu Secondary School in Mbooni East after a Form Three student collapsed and died under mysterious circumstances, leaving fellow students, teachers, and family members in deep shock.
According to police reports, the female student was rushed to Kisau Hospital after collapsing within the school compound. Despite efforts to save her life, medical personnel declared her dead on arrival.
Confirming the incident, Mbooni East Police Commander Ephrahim Karani said investigations have already been launched to determine what caused the sudden death.
“Yes, we received the report and can confirm that the student was pronounced dead at the hospital. The matter is under active investigation to establish the cause of death,” Karani told reporters.
The exact sequence of events leading to the collapse remains unclear, with both school authorities and police declining to speculate before a postmortem is conducted.
Unofficial sources claim the student had not complained of any illness earlier in the day, fueling further confusion and fear among students. Some parents have begun demanding accountability and transparency from the school’s management.
“We send our heartfelt condolences to the family. This is a painful loss for the entire school community,” a staff member said on condition of anonymity.
Meanwhile, local education officers are expected to visit the school amid growing concerns over the welfare of learners and the school’s emergency response preparedness.
The body of the student has been moved to a local morgue awaiting postmortem, as investigators piece together what could have gone wrong.
