Three people were killed on the spot while four others were seriously injured following a devastating road accident that occurred early on Christmas Day at Kedowa Trading Centre along the busy Kericho–Nakuru Highway.
The fatal crash involved a Toyota Probox and a trailer, which collided head-on at dawn under circumstances that police say are still under investigation. The impact left the Probox completely wrecked, trapping occupants inside the mangled vehicle.
According to traffic police officers who responded to the incident, three occupants of the Probox died instantly due to the severity of the collision, while four others sustained multiple injuries and were rushed to nearby health facilities for treatment.

Eyewitnesses at the scene described a horrific aftermath, with debris scattered across the road and rescue efforts hampered by the extent of the damage. The accident temporarily disrupted traffic flow along the highway as emergency responders worked to clear the wreckage.
Preliminary reports indicate that speeding and dangerous overtaking may have contributed to the crash, though authorities say a full investigation is underway to establish the exact cause.
The Kericho–Nakuru Highway is among the region’s busiest transport corridors and has previously been flagged as a high-risk accident zone, particularly around Kedowa Centre. Police have repeatedly warned motorists to exercise caution, especially during the festive season when traffic volumes increase.
The latest incident adds to a rising number of fatal road crashes recorded across the country during the Christmas holidays, prompting renewed calls for strict adherence to traffic rules.
Police have urged motorists to avoid reckless driving, observe speed limits, and remain alert, especially during early morning hours when visibility is low and driver fatigue is common.
