In a fiery interview during Prime Edition on KBC Channel One, Dr. Augustus Muli, the NLP Party Leader, has dismissed allegations of being a puppet for President William Ruto and hit back at Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka over the ongoing IEBC Selection Panel stalemate.
“I am not President William Ruto’s stooge,” Muli declared emphatically. “Kalonzo presented a candidate who was rejected by the majority in Azimio. Just because he is Azimio’s leader doesn’t give him 100% authority to decide who represents the coalition.”
Muli further accused Kalonzo and the Azimio coalition of trying to undermine his legitimate election victory. According to him, the gender-balance excuse raised by Junet Mohammed was a “mischievous ploy” meant to overturn the will of 16 parties in the Minority Coalition that elected him over Dr. Koki Muli.
“There were three men chosen—Kenya Kwanza picked a man, Azimio picked a man, and Non-Parliamentary parties picked a man. If gender was the issue, the entire election should have been canceled and a new one called for fairness,” he stated.
A Victory They Can’t Undermine
Muli also addressed accusations of his party, NLP, not being parliamentary, calling the High Court’s interpretation “out of this world.” He reminded his critics that Dr. Koki Muli actively participated in the election and lost. “There is no way you can transfer an election win. I won fair and square, and no one has even appealed the ruling affirming my victory,” he argued.
A Call for Closure
Muli called on Wiper and Kalonzo to acknowledge his victory and bring an end to the IEBC reconstitution stalemate. “The stalemate can end today if Wiper recognizes I won in a free and fair election. They should withdraw their candidate and let my name be forwarded,” he said.
With Azimio’s leadership battles spilling into the public domain, Dr. Augustus Muli’s bold statements highlight the deep divisions within the coalition, as the IEBC Selection Panel saga threatens to escalate further.
