Several people are feared dead following a fatal multi-vehicle accident involving a Tahmeed bus, a Naekana Shuttle, and a lorry at Konza City in Machakos County late Friday night.
The crash occurred at around 11:00 pm on Friday , along the busy Konza City road, an area that has increasingly recorded serious night-time accidents due to heavy traffic and high-speed driving.
According to eyewitness accounts, the collision involved a Tahmeed passenger bus, a 19-seater Toyota Hiace operated by Naekana Shuttle, and a lorry, leaving a trail of destruction at the scene. Several passengers reportedly died on the spot, while others were trapped inside the wreckage, prompting frantic rescue efforts.

Graphic scenes unfolded as some victims were seen lying on the ground with severe injuries, waiting for urgent medical assistance. Members of the public and first responders issued an urgent appeal for Machakos County Government ambulances and emergency rescue teams to be dispatched to the scene to aid in evacuation and treatment of the injured.
Police officers arrived shortly after the incident and cordoned off the area to facilitate rescue operations, as traffic along the route was temporarily disrupted. By the time of publication, authorities had not released an official statement confirming the exact number of fatalities and injuries.
Investigations into the cause of the accident are underway, with overspeeding, driver error, and poor night-time visibility among the factors being considered.
The tragedy has once again renewed concerns over road safety along the Konza City corridor, a rapidly developing zone that continues to attract heavy commercial and passenger traffic.
More details are expected as rescue operations continue and official updates are issued by the police and county authorities.
