Two drivers are receiving emergency medical care at Sultan Hamud Hospital after a head-on collision involving two trailers at Salama along the busy Mombasa Road.
The accident occurred early Tuesday morning under yet-to-be-established circumstances, sparking concern among highway users. Witnesses at the scene reported that the collision was forceful, leaving both vehicles severely mangled and the drivers trapped in their cabins before being rescued.

Emergency responders from the Kenya Red Cross and local authorities arrived promptly at the scene, helping extract and stabilize the injured drivers before rushing them to the nearby Sultan Hamud Hospital.
A Red Cross official who spoke to Channel 15 News on condition of anonymity confirmed:
“The two drivers were critically injured and rushed to Sultan Hamud Hospital for treatment. Fortunately, there were no fatalities and no traffic snarl-up was experienced during the incident.”
Police from the Salama traffic base have since launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. Preliminary accounts suggest one of the drivers may have been attempting to overtake when the incident occurred, though this remains unconfirmed.

Despite the gravity of the crash, traffic along the busy Nairobi–Mombasa highway remained unaffected, thanks to quick clearance efforts by emergency personnel.
Authorities have urged motorists using the route to remain vigilant, particularly during early morning and late-night hours when fatigue and poor visibility increase accident risks.
