President William Samoei Ruto is set to embark on a four-day development tour of the Ukambani region, beginning Wednesday next week, in what State House has described as a renewed effort to fast-track government projects and deepen national development ties in the Lower Eastern region.

According to details released by Hon. Erastus Kivasu Kawaya, CBS, the Member of Parliament for Mbooni Constituency and National Organizing Secretary of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), the President will begin his engagements in Makueni County on Wednesday, proceed to Kitui on Thursday, and wind up the county visits in Machakos on Friday, before holding a leaders’ meeting on Saturday to consolidate government development priorities for the region.
The visit comes barely a month after an earlier planned tour of the Lower Eastern region was called off. The President had been scheduled to traverse the three Ukambani counties in early October ahead of the Mashujaa Day celebrations held at Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui, but the trip was postponed following the passing of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga on October 15.

Officials say the rescheduled visit will focus on inspecting ongoing national projects, launching new initiatives, and reaffirming the government’s commitment to its Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
Hon. Kawaya noted that the revised itinerary reflects the President’s unwavering determination to ensure no county is left behind in the national development plan, emphasizing that Ukambani remains a key pillar in the government’s broader agenda for inclusive economic transformation.
