Siaya Governor James Orengo has set the political scene ablaze with sensational remarks hinting at a possible impeachment of President William Ruto before the 2027 elections. Speaking in South East Alego during the send-off of Mzee Richard Ochieng Oloo, father to High Court advocate Willis Otieno, Orengo rallied his ODM party to seize what he termed as a constitutional opportunity granted by the High Court ruling, which declared Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance as the majority party in Parliament.

“I am asking my party (ODM) to take advantage of the ruling by the High Court that Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance is the majority party in Parliament,” Orengo declared, setting tongues wagging about a renewed political battle against the Kenya Kwanza administration.

His remarks were further fueled by businessman-turned-politician Jimmy Wahigi, who dropped another political bombshell, claiming that Mt. Kenya MPs still aligned with Ruto are simply waiting for the right moment to abandon him.
“He has taught you that you can impeach your Deputy because you have the majority. The country is very angry; we might not get to the 2027 election. We should not wait for 2027,” said Wahigi, echoing the growing frustration within opposition ranks.
Orengo’s Call to Action: “History Is Behind Us”
Orengo, known for his firebrand approach to politics, made it clear that he would not shy away from speaking the truth, even at the risk of political consequences.
“And me, James Orengo, I can tell you that I cannot sacrifice the truth for any political gain. I will always tell the truth. And I think I have survived politics for saying the truth,” Orengo affirmed.

He further challenged ODM and Azimio leaders to capitalize on the court’s ruling instead of engaging in backroom negotiations with those in power.
“Now I am asking my party ODM, don’t lose this thing that the High Court has said that Azimio is the majority party in Parliament. Instead of sitting at the table with those in power, the court is giving you what belongs to you. Why are you giving up? Why is Kenya giving up? When history is behind you?” Orengo posed.
He went on to declare that Kenya needed leaders with conviction, not career politicians, and that the country was on the verge of a political shift that could bring change before 2027.
“We don’t want career politicians; we have people with convictions. This is what will bring change to Kenya,” he added.
Gachagua’s Awaited Response: A Nation on Edge
These explosive sentiments come just hours before impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is set to address the nation in what he has promised will be a tell-all exposé on what transpired and what lies ahead.

With mounting political tensions, speculation is rife that Gachagua’s revelations could further complicate Ruto’s presidency, especially if he decides to lift the lid on alleged internal betrayals within Kenya Kwanza.
As Orengo and Azimio leaders seemingly prepare for a major political battle, and with murmurs of discontent growing even within Ruto’s own camp, the question on everyone’s mind is: Could Kenya be heading for an unprecedented presidential impeachment before 2027?
One thing is clear—the battle lines are being drawn, and Kenya’s political landscape is about to witness another seismic shift.
