A man of God who vied for Mwingi West Constituency Mp seat and fineshed third, has become a thorn in Kitui County government due to his over sighting role he has been playing.
Reverend Musili Kauta a theologian turned blogger, has been leading the front line in calling out governor Dr Julius Malombe’s administration, exposing the under dealings by the county government’s senior staff , ranging from misuse of public resources, re-allocation of resources, illegal sand harvesting, lack of accountability, corruption within the county among other ills.
So connected , brave and firm Musili has been , such that he has been tabling and exposing sensitive County government of Kitui documents on social media, raising questions on who has been feeding him with the said documents, which the government of the day has not denied or refused to admit their authenticity.
For a while , Musili has been holding his ground with facts , word by word , that at one point , the man of God has been shown the exit door of the gates of heaven of a popular Kitui Whattsap Group dubbed “Kitui Professionals” due to his boldness and backing his arguments with facts which the government side has maintained to be fabricated propagandas aimed slowing government from delivering his mandate, while another side claimed the man of God has been sponsored by former County regime to destabilize it.
But one thing that has stood out with Reverend Musili Kauta is that despite the change of weather and seasons, he has mantained his position that Malombe’s administration has failed to honor it’s promises to her people despite being two years at the helm.
“During the state of the adress by governor Julius Malombe this year at the County Assembly chambers, the governor in his speech failed to highlight how his government had responded to perennial issues affecting the people of Kitui County like shortage of water , food scarcity, illegal sand harvesting among others. But he was quick to point out how he has built sand damns across the 40 wards in Kitui, how ECDE teachers have been employed on parmanent and pensionable terms and as well grading of rural roads connecting Kitui roads.” Says Kauta
But it’s the wanting corruption being witnessed at Kitui County government that has forced Kitui people to get worried on whether, the county has any chance to develop at this rate of open stealing.
The push to have Dr Julius Malombe’s administration held responsible for any wrongdoing has seen the conversation progress well on social media with Reverend Musili Kauta promising to organize a mother of demonstration on 30th May 2024 against the current regime.
In an exclusive interview with Channel 15 News this evening, Reverend Musili Kauta said the planned demos will proceed on as scheduled starting at Kitui’s Stadium all the way to the governor’s office.
“Yes i can assure you that the masses are with us. We shall hold our peaceful demos on 30th as planned. All is set. Let no one lie to you that anything has changed. Our voice has to be heard right.” Said Kauta
Whether Musili Kauta’s demonstration will be successful or not , the push for accountable and transparent governance from Kitui County administration remains a key affair for the people of Kitui County who overwhelmingly voted in governor Malombe as people’s governor with alot of hope in him .
