The gospel music fraternity is in mourning following the death of Joyce Wanjiru Karumba, the wife of popular gospel DJ Karumba Ngatia, widely known as DJ Krowbar.
In a statement released by the family, Joyce passed away in the early hours of Monday, January 26, 2026, at around 3 a.m., after a prolonged illness.

According to the family, Joyce had been battling health complications for several months. She underwent a kidney transplant in mid-2025, but later developed medical complications that required continued treatment. Although her condition had briefly improved—allowing her to return home about two weeks ago—her health deteriorated again, leading to her re-admission to hospital, where she later passed on.
The family described Joyce as a woman of strong faith, courage, and resilience, noting that she remained hopeful and prayerful throughout her long health journey despite the physical and emotional toll of illness.
Joyce is survived by her husband DJ Krowbar and their three children — Toria, Riri, and Imani.

In their message to the public, the family said they are deeply saddened by the loss but are comforted by their faith, stating that Joyce is now at peace. They appealed for prayers, love, and respect for their privacy as they come to terms with the loss and make funeral arrangements.
The passing of Joyce Wanjiru has triggered an outpouring of condolences from fellow gospel DJs, church leaders, artists, and fans, many of whom have taken to social media to express solidarity with DJ Krowbar and his family during this difficult season.
