A burial in Limuru, Kiambu County, descended into chaos when a mob of unidentified goons launched a brazen attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, leaving mourners in shock and panic.
The once-somber ceremony turned into a battleground as the attackers uprooted tents under which leaders were seated, pelting stones and targeting Gachagua’s convoy. The vehicle carrying the former DP was left extensively damaged as mourners fled for their lives, fearing for their safety.

In a dramatic scene reminiscent of political vendettas, Gachagua and other leaders had to be whisked away under tight security as the goons intensified their rampage. Witnesses described the attack as deliberate and highly coordinated, sparking speculation of deeper political motives.

This violent outburst comes mere days after the government controversially withdrew all security personnel assigned to the former Deputy President, a move critics have labeled as politically motivated. Without the usual protective detail, Gachagua was left vulnerable to what many are calling a “targeted ambush.”

“This is not just an attack on Rigathi Gachagua; it is an attack on the sanctity of mourning and our democratic space,” fumed one Kiambu politician. “We demand immediate answers. Who sent these goons?”
The brazen attack has sent shockwaves across the country, fueling debates about the escalating tension between the former DP and the current administration. Speculation is rife that the incident was politically orchestrated, with opponents allegedly seeking to intimidate Gachagua and silence his criticism of the government.

Law enforcement agencies have launched investigations, but as of now, no arrests have been made. Meanwhile, Kenyans are left grappling with the chilling reality of how political rivalries are spilling into public events, even during moments of grief.
Gachagua’s allies have vowed to push back, calling the attack a “declaration of war” on their leader. “This is a cowardly attempt to destabilize him, but we will not be silenced,” one supporter declared.

The Limuru incident has now become a flashpoint in the country’s ever-deepening political rifts, leaving many to wonder how far opponents are willing to go in the name of power and control.
