Kalonzo Launches 2027 Campaign Platform as Opposition Race Against Ruto Gains Momentum

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has officially launched the SKM 2027 Presidential Campaign Platform, signaling the start of an intensified push by the opposition to unseat President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.

The launch, held during a high-profile Sh25,000-a-plate fundraising dinner in Nairobi, marks a major step in Kalonzo’s preparations for a potential State House bid. The event is expected to help build a formidable campaign war chest as opposition leaders seek to mount a serious challenge against the Kenya Kwanza administration.

The fundraising model mirrors previous high-value political fundraising dinners in Kenya, including those organized by opposition leader Raila Odinga, where supporters contributed substantial amounts to finance campaign activities.

Addressing guests during the launch, Kalonzo described the unveiling of the platform as a defining moment in his political journey and a call for national renewal.

“Tonight, we open a window into a lifetime of public service and, more importantly, into a vision for the Kenya we can build together. This is more than the launch of a platform website. It is our KOMBOA moment,” he said.

The Wiper leader explained that the “KOMBOA” agenda is centered on rescuing the country from what he termed as state capture and restoring hope among Kenyans.

“KOMBOA is about rising together and moving from promise to delivery, from potential to progress, and from hope to action. KOMBOA is not a slogan. It is a covenant between me and every Kenyan who believes that our country needs urgent liberation from the current state capture,” he stated.

The launch comes at a time when opposition leaders are increasing political activities ahead of the 2027 elections, although they have yet to agree on a single candidate to face President Ruto.

Speaking in an interview with NTV before the event, Kalonzo maintained that he had not formally declared his presidential candidacy but accused the Head of State of already being in campaign mode.

“I have not officially declared my presidential candidacy, but Ruto is already in full campaign,” Kalonzo said.

He also took issue with the government’s handling of public health matters, questioning reports surrounding preparedness against regional disease outbreaks.

“I wonder why Ruto is importing Ebola to Kenya,” Kalonzo remarked, in comments likely to spark political debate.

Political analysts view the launch of the SKM 2027 platform as one of the clearest indications yet that Kalonzo is positioning himself for a serious presidential run, even as negotiations continue within the united opposition on the possibility of fielding a united candidate against President Ruto.
