A school in Nyamira County has been thrown into turmoil after a shocking case of workplace violence involving a principal and a teacher. Vincent Onyancha, a dedicated educator, is currently nursing injuries at a hospital in Ikonge after a brutal assault allegedly orchestrated by his own boss.
According to Onyancha, the principal attacked him in front of his students, slapping and kicking him without warning. “I was in class teaching when he stormed in. He slapped me, kicked me, and dragged me out like a criminal,” Onyancha painfully recounted from his hospital bed.
The situation escalated further when the principal allegedly hauled the injured teacher into his office and continued raining blows on him. The reason? Onyancha had reportedly arrived late for work that day.
News of the incident has sparked outrage among teachers and parents, with many calling for immediate action against the rogue principal. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Director in Nyamira County, Erick Magak, confirmed receiving the complaint and assured that investigations are underway.
“The matter has been brought to our attention, and we have launched an investigation,” Magak stated, adding that disciplinary measures will follow based on the findings.
Meanwhile, concerned parents are questioning how such an individual remains in a leadership position. “If this is how he treats his colleagues, how does he handle our children?” one parent lamented.
The case now raises serious concerns about the safety of teachers in their workplaces and whether the Ministry of Education and TSC are doing enough to curb such abuses of power. Will justice be served, or will this incident be buried under bureaucratic processes?
